Avera fitness expert Dick Bartling demonstrates a “Figure 4” stretch to help with hip flexibility.
Hi, I’m Dick Bartling, Golf Fitness Expert from the Avera Sports Institute; and I want to show you another exercise that’ll help improve your hip flexibility. We’ve already seen the chair leg cross exercise, and this is called the “Figure Four” stretch. A little more intense, sit down on the floor, cross the right leg over the left, and then you can use your body position and that left leg to get you even more intense stretch than you would sitting at a chair. As we’ve mentioned on stretching exercises, hold for about 15 to 20 seconds, to that point of mild discomfort; and then go ahead and repeat. Make sure you work equally on each side.
